I’d like to take a minute to share my experience in ENTP 6807- Marketing & Personal Branding.

I took this class Maymester 2018 and two years later, it still resonates with me. I have strong relationships with a number of my classmates because of the bonds we built in the three short weeks of this class. I have cultivated business relationships with some of the guest speakers, which have made an impact on my outreach and building my network. More than anything, I have reflected back on my workbook and projects that have made an immeasurable impact on my personal growth and development. Little did I know, when class started, the impact this class would have on my personal and professional life down the road and that is something I will forever be grateful for. In 3 short weeks, I was able to understand my WHY, embrace my story and have since been able to align myself and my work directly with my values and passion. I cultivated my brand.

Jung has a way of getting you to think about things in a different perspective and to really dig deep into what has made you the person you are today. This class is not for the faint of heart and for that I encourage you to embrace every exercise, every speaker, and every minute you have in this class. A Maymester can be challenging with the schedule, I remember in the first week talking with my classmates, we felt that we had been in class for a full semester already. I encourage you to change your perspective about this and realize the growth potential that can come from this class. I promise you that you will not regret it.

A common theme throughout the class was that life isn’t always how we plan it to be. In fact, it is very different from what we plan it to be, because we can’t control everything that will happen in our lives. We may not be able to control the circumstances going on around us right now, but we can absolutely control how we react to it and what we can learn through it. I did not have to go through this class in a virtual environment, but you are in control of how you react to it and what you can take away from it.

I leave you with this, be curious, this is something that I took away from the first guest speaker. The more curious we are, the more we learn, and the more we learn the more motivation we have, which in turn allows us to not be paralyzed by uncertainty. Our bodies feel pain when we don’t know something, we get uncomfortable, we get hesitant. Pain scares people, because it isn’t a good feeling. This class may make you feel uncomfortable and vulnerable at times, but I strongly encourage you to be curious, redirect those uncomfortable feelings to WHY are they uncomfortable and focus on that. Embrace the challenges this class may present to you and put your whole heart into the next 3 weeks.
